About Us
New location: Luther Burbank Art and Garden Center, 2050 Yulupa Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95405, 4th Tuesday of each month, except July and December, 7:30 P. M. At these meetings we generally have Bonsai artists demonstrate different Bonsai techniques as they work on various types of Bonsai material. See our Calendar.

Our Club offers Bonsai demonstrations by Masters in the art, hands on experience, lectures, workshops, beginner classes, slides, benefit drawings, local and state Bonsai information, critiques and sharing of our Bonsai. See our Calendar.  We also host one of the largest shows in northern California in August of each year.  See our Annual Show page for further information.

At our annual club show we had over 200 trees. No, this is not a convention; it's a club show.
Visit our Gallery pages for pictures of our show trees. Some of the pictures are of the same tree and it is interesting to note the changes over time. The Gallery link contains an index to all the pictures.  Enjoy!

A monthly newsletter is published and emailed to all members in good standing. Information includes Bonsai news, helpful hints; upcoming events in our club, plus bay area show locations.

We have an extensive lending library on the art of Bonsai including books, VHS tapes, magazines, and pamphlets that are available to our members.

Collecting trips are offered at various times throughout the year, weather permitting. The trips are for active members only.

Workshops at the REDWOOD EMPIRE BONSAI SOCIETY come in many forms. We have Beginner Workshops, which will give you some basic bonsai information and training. Cost for the Beginners Workshop is a onetime $80.00 fee. The cost is to cover good bonsai stock. You will learn bonsai related material and wiring on a juniper. The Beginners Workshop is offered on an as-needed basis. Dates and times to be announced. The wire and tools needed by the beginner for this workshop are provided by REBS.

After completing the Beginner's Workshop you may attend any of the following workshops:

Intermediate workshops are the 3rd Thursday and the next day (Friday) of every month. These classes are currently being taught by senior club members. There is a cost per workshop and the student needs to provide all materials. The Thursday Class is by Ivan Lukrich and Richard Hoskins at Bennett Valley Senior Center. See our Calendar.
Kathy Shaner, our Sensei, and other approved bonsai masters hold approximately eight to ten workshops a year. The cost is per workshop and the student needs to provide all the materials. See our Calendar.
